Our Adventure List

This list started off as a trekking list but has expanded beyond that and is ever growing as we learn about new places that catch our eye. So now, we aim to find a hike in every place we visit. For every destination we check off, it seems one or two new ones get added on! But maybe that's how it should be, because what happens when you check everything off?

North America including Mexico & the Caribbean

1. Backpack in Tombstone Territorial Park, Yukon, Canada and drive the Dempster Highway to touch the edge of the Arctic Circle

2. Hike R2R2R Grand Canyon, Arizona USA because I don't want to pay for the shuttle back

3. Hike to Mt Assiniboine, Great Divide, BC/Alberta Canada

4. Joffre Lakes, BC Canada Completed August 2023

5. Garibaldi Lake, BC Canada to see Black Tusk from Panorama Ridge Close but no cigar, Aug 2023

6. Torngat Mountains, Labrador, Canada

7. Skyline Trail, Jasper, Alberta Canada

8. Tahoe Rim Trail, Lake Tahoe, USA

9. Bishop Pass to Mt Whitney, the highest point in the continental USA JMT section, California USA once Karen can figure out how to manage altitude sickness

10. Rae Lakes Loop, JMT section, California USA - may have to settle for a section. Comtemplating Kearsarge Pass to Rae Lakes section after we had to cancel it in 2021

11. High Sierra Camps, Yosemite California USA as its got some perks like showers and washrooms

12. East Coast Trail section, Newfoundland Canada to experience East Coast hospitality

13. Hike Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland, Canada

14. Visit the Haida Gwaii archipelago, BC Canada when we can do it affordably

15. Ride the Copper Canyon Railroad, Chihuahua, Mexico because...Chihuahua!

16. Repeat our 1994 Southwest USA road trip but in an RV, USA. It was that good.

17. Drive the Loneliest road in America, Nevada USA and buy my Alien T-shirt I left behind at the Alien Center in 2018

18. Kalalau Trail, Kauai, Hawaii USA Completed 8 mile section May 2022

South America & Antartica

1. Hike the Q Circuit in Torres del Paine National Park, Chile Completed February 1, 2023

2. Gaze at the Fitz Roy range, Los Glaciares National Park in El Chalten, Argentina Completed February 7, 2023

3. Go to the end of the world in Ushuaia, Argentina Completed February 2023

4. Enjoy a drink in El Valle de la Luna, Atacama Desert, Chile

5. Laguna 69, Peru

6. Rainbow Mountain hike, Peru

7. Salkantay Trek, Peru

Europe

1. Tour du Mont Blanc, 170km trek in France, Italy, Switzerland Completed Sept 2024

2. Walkers Haute Route, Chamonix to Zermatt, France to Switzerland Maybe too similar to the TMB

3. Bernese Overland Traverse, Switzerland

4. Eagle Walks, Switzerland

5. Path of the Gods, Amalfi Coast Italy

6. Walk the ancient road Via Francigena, Italy

7. Get my pilgrim title walking the Camino de Santiago, Spain

8. Take a donkey on a walk along the Chemin de Robert Louis Stevenson GR70 or anywhere in the Pyrenees, France

9. Giants Trail, visiting Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, and Monte Rosa I overestimate myself lol

10. Picos de Europa, Spain

11. Sections of Via Alpina, Switzerland

12. Alta Via 1, 120km Dolomites Italy

13. Laugavegur & Fimmvordugalas trek, Iceland

14. Afternoon tea in the Cotswolds, UK (it counts if we hike there!)

15. Coastal Camino, Portugal

16. Walk the Levada hikes in Madeira, Portugal Completed April 2024

1. Everest Base Camp, Nepal but apparently altitude and Karen don't mix

2. Mardi Himal Trek, Nepal

3. Keskenkija loop trek, Kyrgyzstan

4. Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trek, Japan

5. Summit Mt Fuji to see the sun rise, Japan Change of plans - too busy on the trail

6. Section of the Nakasendo Postal Town Route, Japan

1. Road trip through Namibia

1. Milford Track, New Zealand

2. Spend a month in the Whitsunday Islands, Australia because I didn't get to do it in 2005.
